VFD · Vacuum Furnace Designer

Vacuum furnace design from load and process

Enter process, alloy, load and quench pressure; get a catalog furnace, the number of units and its auxiliary equipment.

Result screen of the Vacuum Furnace Designer: recommended model HVHF-M with working zone, heating power, vacuum level and cooling data
The result: recommended model, why it was chosen, and its data.

What you enter

  • Process: hardening, tempering, annealing, brazing and six others.
  • Alloy, from the built-in database by DIN or AISI code.
  • Process temperature (°C) and load weight per charge (kg).
  • Load dimensions in mm (optional).
  • Loading type: front, top or bottom.
  • Target daily capacity in kg/day (optional).
  • Vacuum level (10⁻¹ to 10⁻⁶ mbar) and quench pressure (0.9 to 12 bar).
  • Optional: AMS2750 class and instrumentation type, your own recipe times.

What you get

  • Recommended catalog model, and which input set its size.
  • Working zone, loading capacity, heating power, control zones, thermocouples.
  • Number of furnaces for the daily target; neighbouring sizes compared.
  • Hardening plus tempering: one furnace or two, side by side.
  • Vacuum pump station, fan power, buffer tank volume, cooling tower capacity.
  • Warnings when an input exceeds the furnace or alloy limits.
  • With AMS2750: uniformity tolerance and sensor counts.
  • PDF report, recipe as CSV or PDF, version history, what-if panel.

How it works

  1. Fill in process, alloy, temperature, load and quench pressure.
  2. Calculate: the smallest catalog size that fits the load is selected.
  3. Check the result and its warnings; compare inputs in the what-if panel.
  4. Export the PDF or save the design as a project.
  5. Send the furnace to the plant designer, or request a quote.

Good to know

  • The result is a catalog selection, not a simulation.
  • The furnace count uses the longest catalog cycle time.
  • Buffer tank and cooling tower figures are estimates with a factor of 1.5.
